DAD + INTERNET = <3

Due to the steep decline of our economy my dad has been on unemployment on and off a couple times over the past year. For the first time in perhaps 15 years my dad has had the opportunity to do what every lazy asshole in the US has been doing for the past 15 years- and that is learning the ins and out + & - of the computer world. Dad had some catching up to do. Up to now he was wholly disconnected with the cyber realm and basically from reality in general. but alas YOUTUBE GOOGLE! DAD has entered a new world. information is now readily available. so now he needs (real) human interaction perhaps even less than before which is saying a lot.
First he was telling me links of youtube videos I should watch ie- Eric Bourdon, rolling stones, Eric Clapton etc etc.

Now we enter into the second quarter of unemployment- moms bringing home the bacon and dad is musing over the wonders of websites that detail politics in the worst way: MICHAEL MOORE documentaries. even better than real information!

Last night at like 11 pm my mom calls. She really picks the best times to call so I have to sober up and talk to her.
-Hi mom I got off work early- just making food. blah blah.
-oh okay today we had the neighbors over for dinner and your dad talked to them about his thoughts on the michael moore documentaries he found on youtube.

i dont know how this works out given my dads lean towards the republican party. now he is drunk and watching youtube videos. I hear him yell something from the other room and my mom hands him the phone.
We talked about London and art and that transitioned to my dad talking about a contemporary pop- dance performance that he found online. apparently its really interesting new thing (probably happened 50 years ago) but the point is that London has great things going on like this performance art. Thanks dad i could not have imagined that given this I spent six months there this year.

I am trying to tell my dad that perhaps we can compare our ten top fav websites another time- when im not climbing into the crossfade. minus the latter section of that clause. and then my mom comes back takes the phone, luckily and says his time is up.

blows my mind how people can live together for so long and have a functional relationship. Is it about sacrifices or just giving in and realizing that you love someone whose favorite pastime is getting drunk and watching propaganda on the WWW ? further- I am a product of their co-existence. at work blogging. exactly.

PAVEMENT AT SASQUATCH !@@##$$%% STEPHEN MALKMUS IS MY INDIE DAD ive decided. HYPOTHETICALLY If i had a dad in the music world it would be MALKMUS FO SHO.
